The spotlight is on the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) on 1 November 2025: located just steps from the Giza Pyramids, it is the world's largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization. It houses over 100,000 artifacts, including the complete treasures of Tutankhamun displayed together for the first time. Cutting-edge technology, immersive storytelling, and iconic architecture make the GEM an unparalleled cultural and historical experience, establishing it as a global benchmark in tourism.
To meet the expectations of contemporary travelers, Egypt is introducing innovative tourism products designed to offer memorable experiences of its unmatched diversity, catering to families, adventurers, culture enthusiasts, and luxury travelers alike.
Visitors can explore the Pyramids of Giza, the temples of Luxor and Karnak, and world-renowned museums, while vibrant cities such as Cairo and Alexandria offer cultural and spiritual highlights. Luxury resorts along the Red Sea provide wellness retreats and underwater adventures, while desert safaris, trekking in the Sinai mountains, and eco-adventures appeal to explorers and nature lovers. Modern conference facilities and world-class marinas further expand Egypt's appeal to business and luxury travelers.
Guided by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Egypt is pursuing a strategic vision that prioritises sustainable growth, product diversification, and destination development. With investments in infrastructure, international partnerships, and premium services, Egypt stands at the forefront of global travel innovation.
The results speak for themselves: in 2024, Egypt welcomed approximately 16 million international visitors, confirming its steady growth in the tourism sector ,Arrivals from Italy alone reached 800,000, a figure in line with the country's best historical performance in the Italian market. For 2025, Egypt is ambitiously aiming to reach, or even surpass, 1 million Italian visitors, reaffirming Italy's strategic importance, which represents one of the top ten markets in Europe and worldwide, in its tourism development plans. This success is also the result of strengthened Egyptian–Italian cooperation in tourism, which includes joint initiatives, cultural exchanges, and strategic partnerships aimed at further growth in the Italian market.
stated Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority.
During the first seven months of 2025, overall tourism markets recorded an annual growth rate of 22%, with the Italian market showing a notable increase of 49.5%. This upward trend underlines the strength of bilateral tourism relations and the effectiveness of ongoing promotional initiatives.
As part of this cooperation, Egypt and Italy are also working to establish Italian Hospitality Schools in Egypt, a landmark initiative aimed at transferring expertise, enhancing service quality, and nurturing the next generation of hospitality professionals to meet the demands of a rapidly growing tourism industry.
Significant infrastructure upgrades – including modernised airports, EgyptAir's expanded fleet, and improved connectivity – are enhancing the visitor experience. These improvements ensure seamless travel, higher service standards, and better access across all regions of Egypt making every journey more comfortable and enjoyable.
