Dubai Comedy Festival 2025 is proud to present Malik Al-Masrah, a bold and evocative Arabic theatrical production exploring the fragile intersection of fame, ego, and the human spirit. Set to take the stage at the iconic Dubai Opera on Friday and Saturday, October 3rd and 4th, 2025, this much-anticipated play brings together a powerhouse ensemble of Kuwait's leading actors in a moving narrative that balances sharp satire with emotional depth.

Directed by the visionary Amir Mataar and presented by Al Qaiser in partnership with Best Production, Malik Al-Masrah (translated as The King of the Stage) is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2060. The story follows the life of retired artist Ibrahim Ahsanahom, portrayed in both his younger and older selves by acclaimed comedian Khaled Al-Muthafar, as he reflects on a career overshadowed by personal struggle, artistic ego, and public scrutiny. Woven with wit, introspection, and experimental storytelling, the play examines the impact of arrogance on an artist's relationship with their audience, peers, and self-worth—reminding us why humility remains the crown jewel of any true artist.

Malik Al-Masrah marks the return of the celebrated creative partnership between Khaled Al-Muthafar and playwright/director Abdulaziz Safar, the duo behind The First of Its Kind—a play that ran for over 230 shows across Kuwait and internationally. Their latest collaboration takes theatrical innovation to new heights, offering a layered, genre-defying performance that blends futuristic fantasy with everyday realism.

The production features a stellar cast of regional stars, including:

Khaled Al Muthafar, actor, director, and music composer, featured on Netflix's The Deep State

Khaled Al-Ajereb, beloved for his comedic timing and popular collaborations

Eman Faisal, a versatile actress and assistant director

Ahmad Al Muthafar, known for his roles in Set Shabab and King of the Stage

Areej Al-Attar, award-winning actress and lifestyle content creator

Abdulaziz Safar, dynamic actor and director

Mohammed Safar, renowned for over 50 television and stage roles

Salman Kayed, celebrated for his performances in The Respectfuls

Mahdi Dashti, acclaimed for his roles in An Appointment with His Excellency and The Respectful Ones

More than a traditional comedy, Malik Al-Masrah evolves with each performance, engaging audiences intellectually and emotionally through sharp writing, cultural insight, and meaningful self-reflection. It's a timely reminder of how theatre can challenge norms, provoke thought, and celebrate artistic freedom.
